The current year is 75 ABY. The third galactic civil war has started due to a long feud between the unified republic (formerly new republic) and the imperial federation (formerly the empire). While the two are 'supposedly' evenly matched, it is the skill of their commanders that will prove which side is more powerful in the galaxy. However, neither side seems to be able to keep hold of anything more than their own small slab of the galaxy.
Meanwhile, in the Outer Rim and Unknown Regions, spanning from Ilum to Bastion, a large assembly of forces are gathering, forces opposed to both the unified republic and imperial federation. Many of these forces have not seen action in the known space of the galaxy, making them a very well kept secret.
