Although dismissed as monstrous figments of our imaginations and the stuff of our childhood nightmares, Magnus recognizes that the world is full of nature’s mistakes and triumphs. And she has the spectacular proof that they are indeed real, and devotes her life to protecting them.
Helen Magnus is a woman who's experienced a century and a half of isolation, strangeness, and relentless compassion. She seems to have trouble displaying emotions, hence she finds it difficult to keep a close relationship with those around her. All through her life she has been scared to get close to anyone, only to watch them die and forces her to continue living. If any, she finds it somewhat difficult to cope, but no-one ever realises it because she doesn't particularly like talking about her feelings. She does act rather cold around people, because of living a century of being virtually alone. But other than that, she is generally friendly, knowledgable, a little too serious, reserved, somewhat quiet and contemplative.
HISTORY:Doctor Helen Magnus is a 150-year old teratologist, who was born in England during the Victorian Era. She followed in her father's footsteps and became one of thr first female doctor and scientist at the Royal College of Surgeans in London. Her father, Gregory Magnus spent years teaching her about his private research of studying and helping beings he calls Abnormals. Those who inherit abilities who may either appear human, and creatures as grotesq as monsters. She became a proficient medical and scientific researcher, in which her father eventually introduced her to other scientists and paranormal researches similar to her field. Then she became a part of the group known as 'the Five', who began doing research with Vampiric blood. She was the first to inject herself with the sample of pure vampire blood, which gave her a gift of longetivity and resistance to disease, and had not aged since.
Later on, Helen pursues a relationship with fellow Five member John Druitt, in which they become engaged. Being of the Five and another scientist who took the blood sample, John developed the ability to teleport through space and time. Those new abilities drove him to become a serial killer, who was well-known as Jack the Ripper causing Helen to leave him. They both concieved a child named Ashley, but who's embryo was kept frozen for over a century, until a time when Helen because extremely lonely well after her split from John.
Helen later builds the Sanctuary in Old City using her father's designs to accomodate the Abnormals. On one mission, she saves a little boy named Will Zimmerman during his childhood from a deadly Abnormal, but fails to save his mother. Decades later, he becomes a forensic phychiatrist, and later recruits him to the Sanctuary, and becomes her protege. In her staff, she has Henry Foss, a computer nerd and weapons designer who is also half-werewolf. An Abnormal who is a Neanderthal-like intellegent creature who they call 'Bigfoot' or 'Big Guy'. However, after dealing with a company called the Cabal, a race of super-Abornals arise. The Cabal are designed to capture Abnormals and utilize their abilities, making them stronger and combining them with others, making them extremely dangerous. And Ashley is captured and made completely into one of them, with all memories erased. Helen and the rest of the team managed to stop them but at a price where all the experiments eventually died, including Ashley.
John Druitt returned in time to finally meet his daughter, but not for long. After Ashley's funeral, Helen is left devestated and John leaves them once again. They recruit another woman, a con-artist who used to work for the Cabal, until she realised they wanted to get rid of her. So she joined the ranks of the Sanctuary, who utilised her tactics, thievery and skills. During the span of the years Helen has been involved with the Sanctuary, she has encountered many Abnormals in all shape and forms, and witness more than one would ever know. She once experienced a world destroyed by a nuclear Apocalypse with the help of an artefact; being infested with an agressive parasite; interacted with Sanctuaries all over the world; been accused of murdering an Abnormal; and even been discouraged by the government several times. At one time during her life, she tried to find a way to remove her imortality, but finding what she needed would cause all humanity to collapse. So, she leaves the solution behind, much to her dissapointment.
It has been nearly a month after Ashley's death, did Helen become transported to another city. The last thing she was doing was reseaching DNA from a dormant personality-altering bug in her office. Now, she is being involved in something more.

Darkness. That's pretty much the first thing Elias noticed when he woke up.
Well, actually, it took him a while to work out that he wasn't going blind, and he really could only see complete darkness with a blur of light's from around him. Pinpoints of light, actually. His eyes were still adjusting from the contrast so much, his eyes were hurting. His head spun furiously aorund at first, as if to strain to see something. That wasn't going to happen anytime soon. But he blinked several times, until finally, he cleared his mind. The next thing he noticed, was that he was stuck. Well, bound was the correct term. He felt a stone cold sharpness on his wrists, and realised he was chained to the wall. Shit. How the HELL did he end up here?
He rattled his chains in frustration. He couldn't remember a damn thing. His memory was a blur, like he had been asleep for months. The last thing he remembered, was meeting a client at a coffee shop, to discuss the case with him. That was during lunchtime....yesterday? He wasn't even that entirely sure. He could have been here for days, and he wouldn't know. It's not like anyone would miss him...he had no family. Only his boss would be pissed if he was late for work. He vaguely remembered leaving with him, then a car drove past and then....that was all he remembered. Could he have been drugged? Was he set up? Maybe his client, Brian Levaro, had something to do with this? Or maybe he was hiding something. Why couldn't he remember?! Anything?
Elias rattled his chains again, this time more angrily. Maybe he could burn through it. It might take sometime, but at least he might try and find a way out. He couldn't even hear anything. No cars. No trains. No voices. Hell, he didn't even hear any birds chirping. This began to worry him to such an extent, he almost began to panic. He had never been in a position like this before. Ever. He was a bloody lawyer! Not apart of the military.
He gritted his teeth, and for a moment nothing happened. But in a span of a few minutes, the chains around his wrists began to sizzle, and a thin trail of smoke wafted out. The chains were thick, much like iron. They were slightly rusty, which worried him more since he noticed small cuts on his wrists. It would take sometime until the acid did its work, but it was the only solution he had.
"Screw this...Brian, you better have some bloody answers...." His tone was sharp, but hoarse. Almost threatening, but he had a feeling Brian knew very well what had happened. If he was dead, well, Elias would very much be screwed over. With no current suspects....well, that made things all the more difficult for him.
