COMMUNICATIONof course, the only communicating happening is within the city's limits. things like e-mail, texting, and instant messaging don't jive here; if you have a message, you're going to have to write it out and deliver it yourself. |

TOWN SQUAREall of the town's streets lead to this central location. it's nothing special, architecturally; there's only a raised platform in the middle of a cobblestoned square. it's surrounded by the town's quaint and somewhat limited shops, and is where any town meeting - if there ever was one - would take place. in one direction, the treeline of the woods is clearly visible, and in the other is the nearby sandy beach and endless ocean. |

PUBLIC LIBRARYthe library has an inexhaustible amount of books, and that's not meant as an exaggeration; upon entering, the librarian informs every visitor that no matter what book he or she desires, it can be found on these shelves. although the library is just a tall, wooden building on the outside, the warm interior seems much, much larger, and there appears to be no end to the number of levels and bound volumes. |

unexpected hell {spike/open} by ANGELUS Nov 6, 2010 17:41:26 GMT -5 |

HOSPITALthis is not a modern-day hospital by any stretch of the term. because the town has no electricity, there's no complicated machinery to deal with, and lanterns are always at hand. there are two doctors and twenty beds, and the only privacy provided to each patient is a curtain separating one bed from another. in the back of the hospital is locked storage are where all medical supplies - including medicines - are kept. |

RESIDENCESinhabitants of this town have two options when it comes to residency: a house that is shared with a group of other people, or an apartment for the more private types. what's unique about these homes is that everyday household items are never-ending; nothing ever runs out. the residences have working plumbing, thankfully, but of course no electricity. the interior design is nothing impressive, either. |

THE MONARCHthe monarch is the town's only pub, and a place frequented by its inhabitants. the bartender is attentive and never forgets a single order. there's a long wooden bar inside, lined with stools, and alongside that is a number of round tables with four chairs each. lanterns hang above, and a candle sits on every tabletop. outside hangs a swinging wooden sign adorned only with a butterfly burned into the plank. |

GROCER'Sany food item that's not protein can be found at the grocer's: vegetables, spices, grains, and those things, like so many other essentials, are endless. there's no frozen section, no microwave dinner or instant macaroni and cheese. the residences have to buy their food and take it home to their kitchen to cook. |

BUTCHER'Severy meat imaginable can be found at the butcher's shop, from beef to chicken to pork and everything in-between. the butcher himself will give you any cut of any animal you prefer, and he - just like every other shop owner - never runs out of his product. every cut is of the top quality, too. |

TAILOR'Sbecause the residences arrive with only the clothes on their back, it's quite obvious that they're going to need new threads eventually. the tailor is quite flexible and can make a garment from any culture and any time period quick as can be. the fabrics and threads are endless, and the clothes are tasteful and well-made. |

CARPENTER'Sthe carpenter is the town's maintenence man. he fixes plumbing, household items, and also makes the finest quality furniture. he even dabbles in creating little knick-knacks that can adorn anyone's home, like tiny carved animals or people, and even makes dolls for anyone that wants one. the tiny shop always smells rich and earthy. |

ARMORYfor those that are used to having a weapon in their hand or at their hip or holstered somewhere on their person, this is the perfect shop. the armory has many weapons from many cultures; anything that isn't powered by some kind of electricity is available here. and there are no laws concerning weapons, so things could get messy. |

STREETSthe streets of the town are not paved in asphalt. some of them are covered in gravel while others are paved with stone, and others still are simply dirt roads. at night the streets are lighted by oil-burning lamp-posts and are mostly desolate. by day the streets are alive with people and those on horseback traveling from one side of the town to the other. |

GARDENSa little bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the shops is the gardens. a large variety of flora can be found here, as well as paths through the beautifully lush plots. there are benches placed periodically throughout the gardens, as well as a few pavillions under which people can sit and lounge. |

STABLESthe only mode of transportation, other than walking, is horseback. there's a number of stable boys that assist anyone in saddling a horse, and once the horse is returned they get the laborious job of brushing the large beast. the different breeds of horses kept in the stables are numerous, and each animal is at the peak of health. |

WOODSin the woods is where the town ends. go far enough into them, perhaps trying to escape, and in the blink of an eye you'll find yourself standing in town square again. these woods are dense and full of life - some of the life more dangerous than others. there are a few streams that seem to start nowhere and end nowhere, and the trees appear to go on forever and ever. the woods is not a safe place to travel through at night. |

A Sneaking Suspicion by IANTO JONES Oct 18, 2010 1:56:59 GMT -5 |

SHRINEfar into the woods is what appears to be a shrine to two gods. stone steps seem to spring out of the ground, stubborn grass growing through the cracks, and the path is lined with burning torches. at the top of the steps is two statues, one of a flawless woman and one of a beautiful man. the statues are covered in dirt and moss, and a number of ever-burning candles sit at their feet. the shrine is a mystery to the town's inhabitants. |

DOCKSon the opposite side of the town from the woods is the ocean, and the docks. there are a number of boats tethered to the docks, and are used for recreational sailing only. the docker is there every minute of every day, ready to help anyone push out to sea whenever his or her heart desires. the boats are well made but not modern in the least. still, they do what they're meant to do: glide over the water's surface. |

OCEANunder the surface of this ocean is a beautiful array of life: plants and fish and anything else one would expect to find in such a large body of water. the ocean seems to stretch on forever in one direction, and anyone that sails out too far to perhaps try to leave the town finds themselves suddenly back at the docks, having their boat tied back up by the docker. this ocean and the woods on the opposite side create the boundaries of the town. |

LIGHTHOUSEfar out in the ocean - but not so far that people can't reach it - is the apparently useless lighthouse. there's no one to man the thing, and inhabitants of the town tend to sail out just for fun, tethering their boat to the small dock and walking up the long spiral staircase. at the top of the lighthouse is an amazing view; the entire town and the seemingly endless woods are visible. |
