Edward flopped down on the sandy beach, on top of his worn brown coat of course, he wasn't a fan of sand finding his way into his clothes. He'd had more than enough of that in Lior. Man, that all seemed so long ago now, but in reality, it had only been 4 years. He sighed to himself as he stared out at the waves, rolling up his white sleeves to his elbows and content for the first time in a long while to do so. What with the rubber-like skin he'd made for his right arm, it was harder to notice that he had a false limb underneath unless you were looking for it. The cover still couldn't fool him though, he would always know what was under there, always be reminded of what he'd done.
He had managed to come to terms with that recently, while in Germany. He'd had time to accept that he'd finally managed to reconnect Al's soul with his body, something he'd sworn to do since he was 11 years old. It had taken him almost5 years, but he'd done it and he'd had a little less than three years to cope with that idea. It was enough to know that he done it, even if he couldn't be there to see it. Hell, he could have actually died when he'd crossed over and yet he hadn't. He'd just ended up in some strange sort of alternate dimension where his father lived with a boy that looked alarmingly like his brother.
"Sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it?" he mumbled to himself as he picked up a nearby shell and chucked it into the sea. Of course, he'd willingly gotten himself transported last time, not just sort of popped up without warning. He frowned at that thought. There hadn't been any strange pointy eared people dressed in weird clothes who didn't know what a library was when he'd appeared in Germany either. Of course, there hadn't been any alchemy in Germany either, so chalk one up for this place. . .whatever it was. Speaking of which. . .
He took a quick look around to make sure no one else was nearby; the last thing he wanted was for someone to thing he was a little kid who had ended up on the beach, just because of what he was about to do. He cupped his hands together and pressed them to the ground. Light flashed from beneath his fingers as the elements rearranged themselves into what he wanted. He allowed his gloved hands to rise up as a bucket appeared beneath them. Having been a state alchemist since he was 12 years old, he hadn't exactly had many opportunities to enjoy the simple things in life such as building sand castles. He stood up, tugging his hair back into a ponytail before picking up the bucket and heading towards the water.
